Joshua Dan Nunes

Joshua Dan Nunes of Jacksonville, Florida is a former U.S. Marine and founder of a new neo-Nazi group - NatSoc Florida (NSF). Based in Duval County, Florida, Nunes and NSF have been orchestrating antisemitic events since mid-2022.

This past week on the 21st anniversary of 9/11, Nunes caused nationwide outrage as he and a small handful of NSF members were spotted in Jacksonville standing on the I-95 overpass holding up a vile antisemitic banner blaming the September 11th attacks on Jews and claiming "Communism is Jewish".

In August, Nunes and other members of NSF gathered on a Tampa overpass. They held several banners with white supremacist and antisemitic language that read "End abortion, save white babies," "Communism is Jewish" (with images of a hammer and sickle and a Star of David), and "Problem - Solution" (showing images of a hammer and sickle and a Star of David next to images of the group’s logo and a swastika). They also displayed a swastika flag.

In July 2022, Nunes protested outside of Turning Point USA's student conference in Tampa; despite being masked, StopAntisemitism analysts identified him via a tattoo on his right arm (circled in yellow).

Turning Point spokesperson Andrew Kolvet stated, “They have nothing to do with TPUSA, our event, or our students. Our students took the mature route and vacated the space the Nazi flag holders were in. Once that happened, they left."

Also in July, Nunes participated in an antisemitic flyer drop campaign in the Jacksonville area. Multiple neighborhoods reported receiving his neo-Nazi propaganda of Jewish power and control.

In June 2022, Nunes and another NSF member demonstrated outside a Jacksonville local eatery wearing shirts with swastikas and holding antisemitic signs that read "Child groomers work here" and "Judaism allows child rape".

According to reports, antisemitic incidents in Florida have risen more than 50% since last year. An overlapping network of white supremacists has emerged throughout the state, with the antisemitic Goyim Defense League (GDL) at its center. GDL's founder - Jon Minadeo II -has been featured frequently by StopAntisemitism.

This network, which often collaborates in planning and executing propaganda distribution campaigns, banner drops, and in-person harassment campaigns, now includes Joshua Dan Nunes.

Nunes, like Minadeo, toes the line between free speech and speech that incites violence against others. With antisemitic assaults increasing across America, we must be extra vigilant in monitoring bigots like Nunes.
