NYPD Searching for Vandal Filmed Spray Painting Antisemitic Graffiti

A vandal was caught on video scrawling swastikas and the words “Fear Black planet” on a Harlem street mural, police said Thursday.

Surveillance video released by police Thursday shows a light-complected man using a marker to deface the mural that runs along a wooden construction fence at E. 124t St. and Park Ave. about 1:15 a.m. Jan. 25. Similar graffiti was spotted today at the NYC 77th 6 station heading uptown.

He drew multiple swastikas on the mural and the message “Fear Black planet” was scrawled twice.

“Fear of a Black Planet” is a 1990 album by Public Enemy but it’s not clear if the vandal was making that reference.

The incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force.

Cops are asking the public’s help identifying the vandal and tracking him down. He was wearing a dark jacket, light-colored hoodie and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
