Swastikas Found at Newton Middle and High Schools

Newton police are investigating after swastikas were found at scrawled at two schools.

One was found at Newton South High School carved into a wrestling mat.

"We have contacted the Newton Police Department and are conducting a full investigation. We take this incident very seriously and are following all of our established protocols and procedures," Newton South Principal Tamara Stras said in a letter to the school community.

Two others were found last week drawn in the sixth grade boys bathroom at the Brown Middle School.

“I want to commend the students who immediately told adults when they found the graffiti this morning. We encourage you to speak to your children about this incident,” said Brown Principal Kimberly Lysaght.

Officials said they don't believe the incidents are connected.
