An Orthodox man was walking home from the synagogue with his two small children when he was attacked in the heart of Williamsburg this past Shabbat.
The incident took place at approximately 7:50 PM in front of Williamsburg Bagel, located at 343 Roebling Street, just south of Division Avenue.
Police said that a suspect, believed to be approximately 15 years old, approached the 30 year old victim from behind and knocked the shtreimel off his head before running away.
Video posted by Williamsburg Shomrim to social media shows the man holding hands with his young son and daughter during the attack. No words were exchanged during the attack and the victim was not physically harmed.
The suspect was wearing jeans, a black jacket and black sneakers when the incident occurred.
The watchdog organization that monitors Jew hatred, StopAntisemitism, tweeted about the incident asking “what type of person assaults a father walking with his two young children in the pouring rain?”
