White Supremacist Group 'Goyim Defense League' Target Nashville in Latest Antisemitic Harassment Campaign

Fliers were found up on more than 40 driveways on Wednesday in Nashville's West End, showing hostility toward Jewish people.

"I was walking up this street here. I took a left here. And probably that first driveway that’s where I saw the first one," one man described the scene after a walk with his dog near Richland Ave in West Nashville. "Something catches my eye. And it’s a Jewish star. Star of David. And I said well what is that? And so I picked it up and I realized that these were anti-Semitic propaganda statements thrown."

Dozens of fliers with a different message. Some reading “gun control is Jewish” or “Disney child grooming is Jewish” with the Star of David on the forehead of various employees.

The flyers are well known to advocacy groups and watchdogs like StopAntisemitism who monitor the group responsible, the Goyim Defense League or GDL. The white supremacist group, led by Jon Minadeo II, has targeted more than a dozen states across the country with their antisemitic vilification campaign.

We asked the Nashvillian what was going through his head when he saw those image; He said "first I’m disappointed that that’s where we are today, which is ridiculous. It’s absurd that we should have to deal with this. And this man who does not want to be named, he took action by picking up some of the flyers on the way back to his house. He adds, “so I’m walking down the street and there’s a family I know that’s Jewish and they have young kids. And I made sure that I grabbed the ones from in front of their house so their kids didn’t run into them. Cuz I didn’t want them to have to deal with.”

He says that he immediately called the Synagogues nearby, which are both less than a mile away. This before filing a police report with Metro, which will be looked into by their Specialized Investigation Division.

Sheirth Israel Synagogue issued the following statement to FOX 17 News:

Of course this is distressing, for the neighbors as well as for the Jewish community. Nashville is a welcoming city so when this type of event occurs it is alarming for everyone.

The Jewish community, specifically, experiences more hate crimes than any other religious minority, so on the one hand, we can't act too surprised, but on the other hand, it is always unsettling. In other places and at other times, horrific world events have begun with the spewing of stereotypes and lies, so it is critical that this be taken seriously. Thankfully we have the full support of law enforcement and TBI.
