A Texas-based white nationalist group is spreading its message across New York, hanging banners on highway overpasses and outside Grand Central Terminal. The Patriot Front posted a photo on its web site of a sign hanging outside the train station with the words “Life Liberty Victory.”
A video shows supporters in hats and sunglasses — their faces wrapped with what looks like white bandages — unfurling “United We Stand” and “Reclaim America” banners on overpasses, including one on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
The group also put up fliers and signs in Bay Ridge earlier this month, leading some 250 protesters to hold a demonstration last weekend.
The Patriot Front has placed 20 banners in 13 states, including New York, to further its goal of “collective liberty,” according to its web site.
The NYPD is aware of the banners. The city Department of Transportation took down the signs as soon as it knew about them. The Patriot Front formed after the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Va., breaking off from a neo-Nazi group called Vanguard America.
