A Jewish woman was walking on the corner of Albany Avenue and Empire Blvd in Crown Heights on Tuesday morning when she was attacked by a man who threatened her and hurled antisemitic expletives at her.

The woman had just dropped off her child, when she was approached by a black man who police say “has a long and current history of being emotionally disturbed.” The man picked up a metal garbage-can, threatening to hit her with it, while stating “get out of my way you [expletive] Jew.”

After a brief canvass with the victim, the perp was found by police and positively ID’d. He was arrested for a hate crime of menacing, police said.

The hate crimes unit was notified and will be further investigating the incident.
