Antisemitic graffiti depicting a swastika was found Tuesday in Bird Library, the Department of Public Safety reported Wednesday. The graffiti was found on a table in the lower level of the library, according to a bias incident report from DPS. The department is actively investigating the incident, which was reported around 8p.m. Tuesday, DPS crime logs show.
The incident is now one of at least 21 racist, antisemitic and bias-related incidents to occur at or near Syracuse University since Nov. 7.
A swastika was found etched in a snowbank near the 505 on Walnut luxury apartment complex on Nov. 14.
Two days later, anti-Semitic graffiti depicting a swastika was found in Haven Hall.
SU professor Genevieve García de Müeller received a hostile, antisemitic email Nov. 19 that referenced the Holocaust. She reportedly received “another racist threatening email” Dec. 20. The Syracuse Police Department is investigating both incidents.
