The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating after racist and antisemitic graffiti was found in Perinton Thursday morning.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has directed the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to investigate to "ensure those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."

Antisemitic graffiti, including a swastika and the letters "KKK," was discovered at the Pines of Perinton apartment complex on White Pine Circle. According to the sheriff's office, similar graffiti was also spray-painted at several other locations in Perinton.

"New York has been and always will be a beacon of diversity and acceptance, and we will continue to stand united in condemning these vile acts of hate whenever and wherever we see them," Cuomo said.

Currently, deputies are seeking surveillance video from area homeowners and neighbors residing in neighborhoods between Watson and Baird roads. Anyone who has video showing suspicious individuals or activity between July 1 at 10 p.m. - July 2 at 6 a.m. is asked to call 911.
