Police are turning to the public for help as they investigate reports of swastikas and profanity spray-painted on private and public property throughout Westford, Massachusetts.
A doorbell camera captured video of the suspect accused of vandalizing homes, street signs, and other property with antisemitic and vulgar taggings this month. Officers are asking anyone who live in the neighborhoods that have been hit to check their security cameras as well.
Mike D’Anna and his wife say several spots in their neighborhood were recently spray painted. A neighbor alerted them to some on a power transformer right at the end of their driveway.
“Just disappointed in the behavior because it’s just they’re making stupid decisions that could potentially ruin their life and they’re not thinking, very clearly,” D’Anna said. “Especially doing things like swastikas that are just extreme hate speech.”
D’Anna said these acts of hate are out of place in their town.
Police released these pictures of more vandalism around town — a swastika and vulgar message on a garage door, a similar message on a parked car, and at least one street sign was spray-painted.
The first incident took place overnight on July 19 near Lakeside Terrace. The second incident took place overnight on July 28 near Pine Ride Road and the third took place the following night near Russells Way.
