A Brooklyn City Council candidate says his tooth was chipped when an unknown assailant hit him in the face in what he calls an unprovoked hate attack.

No words were exchanged between the attacker and Boris Noble, 35 — who police suspect was targeted because he wore a yarmulke. Cops say they’re investigating the incident as a hate crime. Police released a surveillance picture of the suspect on Friday.

Noble said he was walking down E. 12th St. near Avenue J in Midwood around 11:50 p.m. July 16 when the suspect crept up from behind. The man “just hit me with a bat or some kind of baton or something ... he ran up and hit me out of nowhere,” said Noble.

“I think he was aiming for my head. So he kind of like, missed.”

“He ran off a little bit and then he stopped for a second ... He kind of lingered, debating what to do. So I gave him a chase.”

“He knew what he was doing,” Noble said. “He stopped for a second to see how badly he hit me.”

Noble said he suffered a chipped tooth and a bruised jaw. He refused an ambulance at the scene, and is now pursuing dental treatment.

“Security is a major concern in the Jewish community. Crime, security, anti semitism — if people don’t feel safe, then what do you have?” asked Noble, who identifies as a member of the Orthodox community.

“Who’s better to talk about security than myself, a victim of a violent crime,” he said.

Police said the suspect is believed to be Black, about six feet tall and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, gray pants and white sneakers.
