York Regional Police has identified a suspect sought in connection to a series of hate-motivated crimes in Vaughan.
Police issued a warrant for the suspect in relation to multiple incidents, including one Sept. 18 in which a man approached a vehicle near the Sephardic Kehlia Centre in the New Westminster Drive and Steeles Avenue area. The suspect verbally assaulted a father and his son with antisemitic slurs as they sat in their vehicle.
The suspect also attempted to reach into the vehicle. One of the victims in that incident began filming the suspect during the altercation, which occurred just before the start of Rosh Hashanah.
The incident is believed connected to six other incidents that began Sept. 18 and involved antisemitic graffiti written on garage doors and vehicles on Mullen Drive.
