After hours of meetings and dozens of complaints, the Palm Beach County School Board voted to rescind the hiring of Principal William Latson.
The commission voted unanimously, 7-0, to rescind the decision.
Latson is the former principal of Spanish River High School in Boca Raton. In 2018, he came under fire after telling a parent in an email that he could not say the Holocaust was a factual and historical event.
Last year, Superintendent Dr. Fennoy removed Latson as principal and reassigned him.
Latson later sent an e-mail to his staff at the school, defending himself.
In October, the school board voted 4-3 in favor of re-hiring Latson. School board members Marcia Andrews, Chuck Shaw, Debra Robinson, and Barbara McQuinn voted in favor of re-hiring Latson while Board members Frank Barbieri, Karen Brill, and Erica Whitfield voted against the re-hire.
Also last month, Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran requested the immediate cancellation of Latson's professional educator certificate.
The school board will now discuss changes they would like to see in the final order.
A meeting will be held on or before Nov. 11 to review it.
