New York state will help investigate antisemitic graffiti found at a park on Long Island, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Cuomo directed the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to help local police investigate antisemitic graffiti, including swastikas, found at Nissequogue River State Park.

A spokesperson for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation told 1010 WINS a park ranger found "Nazi graffiti" spray painted along a bike path inside the park around 3:38 p.m. on Wednesday. The graffiti was documented and has been removed," the spokesperson said. "The investigation is continuing."

In a statement, Cuomo said "hateful" symbols and graffiti "have no place in our society, and they are not who we are as New Yorkers."

“This is a time in which we need to stay together, not add fuel to the fires that drive us apart, and we’ll continue to protect our fellow New Yorkers and condemn hate wherever and whenever it occurs,” he added.
