Second Man Arrested in Viscous Attack on Jewish Diners in LA

Los Angeles Police Department Secretary Michel Moore announced the arrest of Samel Jailsi; he was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police statement said.

Police said the case would be submitted to the prosecutor to consider allegations involving hate crimes. It wasn’t immediately clear if Jailsi had a lawyer.

The first suspect arrested was a banned man who was detained late Friday and reserved to investigate a deadly weapons assault. Police also claimed that the crime was motivated by hatred when the arrest was announced on Saturday.

The violence recorded in the video occurred when a Palestinian flag-raising caravan stopped near a restaurant eating at an outdoor table.

Witnesses told news media that caravans threw bottles, chanted “Jewish death” and “free Palestine,” and men got out of the car and began asking who was Jewish. A brawl broke out when the two diners said they were Jewish.
