The Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Sea View was forced to evacuate Friday morning due to a threatening email staff members had received.
According to an alert sent out to employees and members, the JCC said the membership department had received the email, and out of an abundance of caution, followed protocols and contacted the NYPD.
“They immediately responded and evacuated our Bernikow building. Police conducted an investigation, walked through the building, and deemed it safe for everyone to re-enter,” the alert read.
A spokeswoman for JCC confirmed the morning incident, adding: “NYPD did a thorough investigation and found no credible threat to our facilities. We are grateful for their quick response, as well as the way our staff and security company handled the situation.”
The spokeswoman said at this time all employees were back inside the building.
The NYPD is currently investigating another incident at the location. On Tuesday, an employee at the JCC received a threatening phone call from an unidentified male, according to a police.
No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
