Canadian Imam Describes Jews and Christians as Enemy in Mosque Sermon

Imam Younus Kathrada attacked Jews and Christians whom he described as "our enemies" in a recent speech delivered at the Islamic Center of Muslim Youth in Victoria, Canada.

Kathrada accused them in her sermon of financing "a failed war against Islam" while calling on Canadians to support the Taliban terrorists and their efforts to enforce Islamic Sharia law - which includes death by stoning, adultery and homosexuality in Afghanistan. .

In his speech, the Islamic leader accused Jews and Christians of trying to spend "mountains of gold to drive us away from Islam." “Then they will spend it but do not fear, at the end of the day they will not win (…). Allah tells us that they will spend it and that it will be a source of repentance for them, "he added.

The Imam focused his hate speech on a call for support for the Taliban . “I encourage you (sic) to show your support to your brothers in Afghanistan, who want to establish sharia in their land (…) Allah grant victory to the mujahideen [who fight] for your good everywhere, Allah grants success to our brothers in Afghanistan to establish their sharia in this land, "he said.

Support for the Taliban was accompanied by direct targeting of Christian and Jewish communities, which he accused of "attacking what is most sacred to Muslims." “Everything they do is just a small portion of what is really in their hearts, of the hatred they have for us in their hearts. Do not think that Jews and Christians are our friends, they are our enemies, "he said.

The hatred of women and the Western conception of them was another central point in Kathrada's dangerous speech. “We see that the West wants to talk about women's rights… Oh yes, their right to be a prostitute. Your right to sleep with whoever you want. I want you to understand what those rights are, by the way. Your rights to be abused. Their right to show their bodies to men, who have fun watching them in porn and more ”, he added.

In response, the Canadian Center for Israeli and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) has expressed deep concern about the hateful rhetoric. "We are very concerned that Canadian Imam Younus Kathrada continues his long history of spouting hatred against Christians, Jews and women," the group wrote.

This is not the first time that Kathrada has expressed hateful and radical rhetoric. Last October, he denigrated French school teacher Samuel Paty, who was killed by a Muslim youth for showing his students Charlie Hebdo cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad. After referring to Paty as "cursed" and "evil spirit," Kathrada implored Allah to annihilate those who slander Muhammad.

A month earlier, and coinciding with September 11, the imam declared that the lack of respect for Mohammed is worse than the police killings of black citizens in the US and in 2018, he assured that Muslims should be offended by those who they worship Jesus and that wishing non-Muslims a "Merry Christmas" is a far more serious sin than murder, adultery, lying, and any other major sin.
