Police are investigating after a 13-year-old girl said a woman yelled anti-Semitic slurs and threw a beer bottle at her after the teen got off a school bus.

The girl’s mother tells police the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. Tuesday on Groveland Road. Police say the teen victim says the woman yelled the slur and threw the bottle while passing by in a vehicle.

The teen was unable to identify the woman or the vehicle. Officers did locate a video from a Ring doorbell that showed a possible suspect and vehicle involved.

The suspect, described as a middle-aged woman wearing a baseball cap, was in a late-model, dark blue Ford four-door pickup truck. It had a dark-colored tool box in the bed.

Police say they are continuing to search for other videos in the area that might show the suspect and the vehicle. Officers reportedly did collect physical evidence from the scene, but did not specify what it is.

“The University Heights Police Department condemns anti-Semitism and acts of ethnic intimidation,” the department said in a news release. “We will remain diligent in our zero-tolerance efforts to prevent, investigate, and apprehend those who commit such cowardly and hateful acts.”
