Call on University of North Carolina Asheville to Replace Tamika Mallory as the Keynote Speaker at its Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Event on January 24th

Tamika Mallory will deliver a keynote address at the LIPINKSY AUDITORIUM on January 24th, as a part of UNC Asheville’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Week. She is a co-president of Women’s March, Inc. with a history of anti-Semitic behavior, which includes invoking anti-Semitic canards and supporting Louis Farrakhan, one of America’s most notorious anti-Semites and the leader of the Nation of Islam.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was a devoted supporter of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. He stated: “The whole world must see that Israel must exist and has the right to exist, and is one of the great outposts of democracy in the world” and “When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism.” Choosing a bigot like Tamika Mallory as a keynote speaker is an insult to Dr. King’s legacy as one of America’s most important civil rights leaders.
Mallory and Sarsour
Mallory and other leaders of the national Women’s March, such as Linda Sarsour, Bob Bland and Carmen Perez, hijacked a progressive agenda supported by millions of Americans. Under the current leadership, Women’s March will lose its momentum, influence and ability to enact change.
The overwhelming majority of progressive Americans have zero tolerance for anti-Semitism or any other form of discrimination. From the dozen state and local Women’s March chapters, to a growing number of female celebrities and Jewish organizations, Americans are recognizing anti-Semitism as a form of racism.
Women’s March groups from Chicago, Houston, Washington, D.C., Alabama, Rhode Island, Florida, Portland, Illinois, Washington State, Barcelona, and Canada, as well as Women’s March GLOBAL, have split from the national organization. The National Organization for Women (NOW) pulled financial support “until the current questions regarding leadership are resolved.”
Organizers from Charlotte, North Carolina have called for the organization’s co-chairs, Bob Bland, Tamika Mallory, Linda Sarsour and Carmen Perez, to step down.
We call on UNC Asheville to replace Tamika Mallory with a new keynote speaker at their January 24thMartin Luther King Jr. event.
