Avideo appearing to show a former professional soccer player flashing a Nazi salute at a crowd of pro-Israel protestors in Beverly Hills has gone viral after it was posted online.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the watchdog group Stop Antisemitism on Monday morning, with a call to identify the passenger in the car who appeared to throw the hate salute and the driver.
Both were soon identified as professional soccer players. Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel was the passenger and Samim Haydari was identified as the driver, KTLA5 reported.
Ferrer Van Ginkel, a 25-year-old from Brazil, was a midfield player for Angel City Football Club in their inaugural 2022 season. Her contract with the National Women’s Soccer League team was not renewed after last November.
In the video, the athlete can be seen appearing to strike a “Sieg Heil” salute with her hand flat and arm extended in front of a pro-Israel rally, which can be heard yelling “Shame on you!” at the woman and the driver.
The football club denounced her actions and reassured she had not been affiliated with the club for a year.
