Teenagers Assault Jewish Residents in Brooklyn in Separate Incidents

Two Jewish residents of Crown Heights were attacked in separate incidents on Tuesday, the latest in a string of antisemitic assaults in the neighborhood.

The first took place at approximately 2:10 pm, in the vicinity of Empire and Troy Avenue. Shomrim responded to a third-party call of an attempted robbery that occurred approximately 10 minutes earlier.

Thankfully the victim was able to fend off the perpetrators and he was not injured. A police report was filed with NYPD.

At approximately 4 pm, Shomrim received another call from another victim who said that at approximately the same time as the first incident, a group matching the same description (three male teenagers with backpacks) brandished a knife at him and tried robbing him, but he managed to get away. Shomrim posted the video of the incident to their Twitter account.

Shomrim responded with multiple volunteers and canvassed the area extensively to no avail. Police were called, and this will be added to the investigation.

Neo-Nazi Group 'Patriot Front' Hang Antisemitic Banner from Charlotte Motor Speedway

A sign bearing an antisemitic message was removed from a pedestrian bridge in Concord after law enforcement was alerted to it Saturday.

Blake Holler told The Charlotte Observer he was driving down Highway 29 midday Saturday when he saw what “looked like a homemade banner” hanging from the pedestrian walkway over the road leading to the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The banner said, “No Zionists in Local Government.” “It’s disturbing. Obviously, it’s anti-Jewish,” Holler said. “We really don’t have any place for that in our society.”

Holler called 911 about the sign and was directed to the Concord Police Department, he said. Concord Police spokeswoman Lindsay Mason confirmed officers took action about the sign Saturday.

“A Concord PD patrol sergeant notified the Speedway of the sign, and the Speedway then took it down,” she said. Holler said the bottom of the sign also said “North Carolina Patriot Front.”

The Patriot Front is classified as a white supremacist group by both the Southern Poverty Law Center. The group “broke off from Vanguard America in the aftermath of the deadly ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia” in 2017, and the group has a presence in North Carolina, according to the SPLC.

The appearance of the sign and its removal happened around one week before International Holocaust Remembrance Day, designed by the United Nations, was recognized on January 27.

Jewish Orchestra Director in Germany Resigns Over Antisemitic Harassment

Holger von Berg is being accused of antisemitic harassment after a prominent Bulgarian-Israeli musician

In the latest scandal involving antisemitism to rock the German art world, a prominent Bulgarian-Israeli musician has resigned from his post as the orchestra director of the Hessian State Theater in the city of Wiesbaden, citing antisemitic bullying as the reason.

In his resignation letter issued on Sunday, Jossifov stated he had been subjected to “systematic antisemitic belittling and months of harassment” by his colleague Holger von Berg, the theater’s managing director.

At issue was a poster that hung in von Berg’s office for several months showing a Nazi swastika alongside the likeness of Richard Wagner, the viscerally antisemitic nineteenth-century German composer. The poster was commissioned for a 2017 lecture series examining the impact of Nazi antisemitism on German music following World War II.

Jossifov claimed that von Berg refused repeated appeals to remove the poster and that he had made antisemitic comments as well. “My family and I would never have thought that something like this would still be possible in Germany more than 70 years after the Holocaust,” he wrote in his resignation letter.

Jossifov raised his concerns in a letter to Angela Dorn, the state minister for the arts and education. Accusing the minister of having failed to protect him, Jossifov and his agent Marcus Felsner also claimed they had not been given access to a private, unpublished report from an outside consultant that caused Dorn to opine that there was no evidence of antisemitic behavior on von Berg’s part, the news outlet Welt reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, von Berg’s lawyers have vigorously contested Jossifov’s charges. “Our client firmly rejects any allegations of antisemitism or support for National Socialism,” his representatives declared in August. At the same time, they emphasized that von Berg “would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who felt hurt by the posters,” acknowledging as well that the meaning of the poster was not entirely clear.

The “swastika scandal” — as the incident has been dubbed in the German press —  comes a few months after a slew of controversies at the Documenta festival of contemporary art, where several antisemitic works were displayed.

St. Louis Synagogue Vandalized with Antisemitic Graffiti

Employees at Congregation Temple Israel found the monument sign outside the faith center sprayed with graffiti in an antisemitic hate crime Tuesday morning.

Police said someone spray-painted graffiti on the sign overnight. The graffiti appeared to be a word, but the writing was not fully legible.

The Creve Coeur Police Department Investigations Bureau is actively investigating the incident.

There is no further information on the incident at this time.

Swastika Discovered Inside Georgetown University Residence Hall

On Monday, the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD) sent a message to members of the college community after it received a report that someone had put a swastika on the wall of a residence hall.

Police said the report about the antisemitic graffiti came through Georgetown’s Bias Reporting System. The swastika was drawn on a wall on the second floor of Darnall Hall.

The message said, in part:

We strongly condemn antisemitism in all its forms, and this act of hatred has no place in our community. We stand together with our Jewish community and its allies. We recognize the effect that this deeply troubling incident has on our community, including the impacts on individual students and employees.

The police department stated that its highest priority is the safety, security, and well-being of the Georgetown community.

GUPD asked anyone with information about the swastika incident to call (202) 687-4343.

White Nationalist Group 'GDL' Targets Baltimore with Antisemitic Flyers

Several residents of a neighborhood in Kensington, Maryland, were shocked to wake up to hateful messages left in their front yard on Sunday morning.

The white supremacist group behind the flyers - Goyim Defense League - are also responsible for thousands of antisemitic flyer drops and banner stunts across America. Leader of Goyim Defense League, or GDL, was featured by NGO StopAntisemitism as its ‘Antisemite of the Week.’

"These attacks are meant to instill fear to weaken and divide our communities, but these are generating more support for our Jewish neighbors," Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said in a statement. "We are united and are showing those who are pedaling hate that these antisemitic attempts at community disruption won't be tolerated."

"Montgomery County is home to one of the most diverse areas in the nation," he continued. "We are proud of that diversity and antisemitic activities do not reflect our community values. It’s not the Montgomery way."

In 2021, the most recent data in D.C. showed 53 incidents, which determined a 179% increase; 55 in Maryland showed a 175% increase and 46 in Virginia showed a 64% increase, all when compared with one year before in 2020.

White Supremacist Group 'GDL' Hits Palm Beach County Sheriff Vehicle Antisemitic Flyers

UPDATE March 2, 2023: Palm Beach County files charges against GDL member Nicholas ‘Jehu’ Bysheim. Bysheim was charged with resisting arrest after being cited for littering; more here.

A bomb squad and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue were called to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office headquarters over the weekend after members from the group ‘Goyim Defense League’ - led by Jon Minadeo II - targeted law enforcement vehicles.

According to a private investigating officer with the Sheriff's office, on January 22, an individual put antisemitic propaganda in small bags filled with an unknown substance on vehicles in the employee parking lot.

The bomb squad and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's hazardous materials teams were called to test the substance.

It was determined that the substance in the small bags was wood chips.

NGO StopAntisemitism tweeted a disturbing image of GDL leader, Jon Minadeo II, flashing two firearms and making openly racist threats.

According to Minadeo, police arrested one of his GDL followers ‘Jehu.’ Minadeo hurled antisemitic, racist, and homophobic slurs at the arresting officers.

Stanford University Student Reported for Reading Hitler's 'Mein Kampf'

A ‘Protected Identity Harm’ report from Stanford University has been filed after the circulation of a Snapchat screenshot of a student reading “Mein Kampf.” The email was sent to Jewish students Sunday by Rabbi Jessica Kirschner and Rabbi Laurie Hahn Tapper.

The Protected Identity Harm Reporting process is the University’s system to address incidents where a student or community member feels attacked due to their identity.

The photo of the student reading the book was posted to another student’s Snapchat story Friday evening, according to a screenshot of the image obtained by The Daily.

University spokesperson Dee Mostofi confirmed that the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORL) became aware of this incident on Saturday. Mostofi added that the two offices, along with Stanford’s Hillel chapter, are working with the leaders of the residence that the students belong to address the social media post and its impact on the community.

“Swift action was taken by the leadership in the residential community where both the individuals who posted and the one pictured are members,” Kirschner and Hahn Tapper wrote. Student Affairs and ORL are actively working with students involved to address the issue and mend relationships in the community.

“It can be upsetting to hear about incidents like this,” Kirschner and Hahn Tapper wrote. “Jewish people belong at Stanford, and deserve to be respected by our peers.”

The filing of the report follows a string of challenges Stanford’s Jewish student community has faced during this academic year.

The fall quarter started on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. (To address this conflict, the University announced that fall quarter would not conflict with Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, in the future.) A mezuzah was also ripped off of a graduate student’s door during fall quarter, and the University also released a report in October apologizing for limiting Jewish student enrollment in the 1950s.

Orthodox Jewish Woman Attacked Outside Subway in Crown Heights

Shomrim safety patrol issued a community safety alert for Crown Heights after two incidents of physical harassment in the area of Eastern Parkway and Schenectady subway station.

The second incident took place on Thursday night when a young Orthodox Jewish woman was walking near the station. Suddenly, she was grabbed from the back by a black male, who then pushed her.

Although shaken, thankfully, the victim was unhurt and was able to continue going.

Crown Heights Shomrim were immediately summoned and followed the attacker, but when the NYPD arrived, no arrest was made.

In the past number of weeks, the number of attacks on visibly Jewish individuals in Crown Heights has been rising to alarming highs. These include a shocking hit-and-run in which a Crown Heights resident was run over and an assault where two young boys were attacked. In all of these cases, arrests have yet to be made.

Vandal Attacks Staten Island Synagogue

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle and individuals in relation to an incident that involved damage to a synagogue property in Staten Island.

Police responded at 12:27 a.m. on Saturday to Congregation Toras Emes., when an unknown individual “exited from the rear passenger seat of a vehicle and ran through the PVC fence at the location,” causing damage to the fence, the NYPD released in a statement on Sunday, along with an image of the car and persons of interest.

The individual who damaged the fence is described as a male with a thin build, last seen wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The unknown operator of the vehicle was wearing a red shirt, while the unknown front-seat passenger was wearing a white shirt.

The District Commissioner said the “individual then re-entered the rear passenger side of the vehicle, which fled the scene traveling southbound on [Hylan] Boulevard.”

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.

“While this incident and possible motives remain under investigation by District Attorney McMahon and the NYPD, any act of vandalism at a Jewish house of worship on Shabbat is completely unacceptable,” said the Staten Island Hate Crimes Task Force.

“The simple fact is that our Jewish brothers and sisters, along with many members of our nation’s countless minority groups, feel unsafe and threatened,” the statement said, adding, “Hateful rhetoric and vile acts against those who are different is shameful and must always be universally condemned, and we must commit ourselves to continue to drive out hatred through accountability for the intolerant, and education for the uninformed.”

Jewish Billboard Calling out Antisemitism Vandalized with 'Free Palestine' Graffiti

A Jewish nonprofit, JewBelong, says two of their billboards in Berkeley, California, regarding antisemitism, have been defaced in the span of just a couple of days.

Archie Gottesman is the co-founder of JewBelong, the nonprofit with billboards in 22 states. She says two of the group's billboards in Berkeley were vandalized this week after someone spray-painted phrases like "Free Palestine" across them.

"I believe in human rights for Palestinians and human rights for Israelis and for peace," Gottesman said.

Gottesman says the group has been in contact with the Berkeley Police Department, investigating the incident as a hate crime.

"It's ongoing, and they'll try and figure it out. I think they're going to be looking at cameras and things like that," she said.

In the Bay Area, antisemitic flyers have popped up in cities like San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Danville.

JewBelong says they remain undeterred and plan on continuing to put up billboards here in the Bay Area and around the country.

"I'm not going to go away because bullies painted over our billboards. We're going to put them up again and come back and be strong," said Gottesman.

Ohio Bus Driver Dismisses Swastikas Discovered on Middle School Bus

An incident where middle school students drew swastikas on an Ohio school bus has prompted an investigation by the school district, according to a school district official.

Several Westerville middle school students drew swastikas on school bus windows Jan. 12, an incident that came to light when a parent noticed Facebook posts between two district bus drivers describing the incident a day later. The parent, Sharon Shai, told the Columbus Jewish News she was disappointed with the way the drivers addressed the problem and relayed her concerns to John Kellogg, Westerville City School District superintendent, in a Jan. 13 letter.

“The bus driver seemed to find it humorous,” she wrote in the letter which she sent to the CJN. “Her comment on Facebook was off-handed and in response to another bus driver posting about his kids drawing” on the windows. The bus driver ... said she spoke to the kids and that ‘kids will be kids,’ that they’ve moved on. This is not good enough.”

Greg Viebranz, executive director of communications & family engagement, for the school district, told the CJN via email that an investigation was underway into not only the students’ actions, but the bus drivers’ reactions to it.

“Acts of antisemitism have no place in our district and will not be tolerated,” he said. “District officials are considering two aspects of the current matter. One is personnel-related and the other is student-related.”

As the investigation is ongoing, Viebranz declined to provide much detail on the investigation.

“What I can share, however, is that our human resources department is considering both the driver’s professional and personal responses to the incident,” he said. “We opened the investigation as soon as possible after becoming aware of it.”

“Regarding the student aspect of this incident, transportation department officials, along with school staff, continue working to identify any students who actively participated,” Viebranz said. “Anyone found responsible will receive appropriate school disciplinary consequences according to our student code of conduct.”

Shai told the CJN this is not the first such situation in the Westerville schools, citing an April 2021 incident where seniors at Westerville South High School allegedly taped a swastika on a jacket during class and posted it to social media.

In the letter to Kellogg, Shai said the punishment for the 2021 action was insufficient.

“Their punishment for this hate speech was the same as seniors that sprayed silly string in the parking lot – for hate speech and creating a hostile environment in school,” he wrote.

Shai said that, in addition to contacting Kellogg, she has also reached out to several school board members. While these individuals told her this was unacceptable and Kellogg told her he would look into the issue, she said she doubts anything will change, citing a lack of sufficient action regarding the 2021 incident.

“This is typical Westerville,” Shai said. “They respond to an initial outreach and do nothing. ... They say all the right things and it goes nowhere. ... They continually make poor decisions that are not in the interest of the students.”

However, Viebranz said the district is taking such incidents seriously, with a department established specifically to address such problems.

He said, “In response to this current matter, and with regard to concerns of increasing antisemitic behavior at the national level, the superintendent had reached out to our educational equity department to ensure their ongoing work with our students and staff at all levels is reflective of this topic. This department was established in our district in 2014 and remains a critical component to our ability to address such matters systemically.”

Swastika Etched onto Desk at Maryland Middle School Classroom

UPDATE January 24, 2023: A Montgomery County school in Maryland has stated three students have been disciplined for drawing swastikas on desks; more here.

*** *** ***

Antisemitic imagery was found etched on a desk inside the Montgomery County School, authorities announced.

"I am writing to inform you that a drawing of a swastika was found on a desk in one of the classrooms," the school sent in a message to the community. “This was brought to the attention of the administration yesterday. Once the teacher shared this with security, it was quickly removed.

"Administration followed protocol by contacting the cluster security coordinator, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), and the Office of School Support and Well-Being.”

In response, several elected officials reached out on social media, including council members Will Jawando and Kate Stewart.

“I am deeply troubled by the swastika found on a desk at Silver Creek MS in Kensington in District 4,” Stewart posted. “My staff and I will be discussing enhancing the curriculum around antisemitism with Montgomery County Public Schools. Hate has no place here.”

The hateful imagery has since been removed from the desk, officials noted. The incident remains under investigation.

“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students," they said. “As a ‘No Place for Hate’ school, we find this behavior to be unacceptable and against the core values we embrace at Silver Creek.

“As such, students who engage in this type of behavior will be given appropriate disciplinary actions aligned with the MCPS student code of conduct.”

Houston Woman Breaks into Synagogue, Returns to Terrorize Preschool Children

A Texas woman is in legal hot water for repeatedly terrorizing a Jewish temple, even missing a court date for one incident to continue harassing the same location.

Ezra Law first appeared at the Congregation Emanu El temple in Houston last week, according to Harris County prosecutors. She was spotted on the house of worship's pulpit by a rabbi who was arriving to prepare for a bar mitzvah ceremony on January 14. Assistant Harris County District Attorney Erica Winsor said Law had allegedly vandalized the temple, damaging certain objects and creating a general state of disarray, according to Click2Houston.

"The damage is immeasurable," Winsor said. "There were several religious items that had been removed from their place. Some were damaged, there was red wine that had been consumed and also spilled. Most importantly, there was a Torah scroll that was removed from the Holy Arc and spread out on the floor. And there was red wine that was spilled on that scroll."

The damage to the Torah was singled out by Winsor as particularly detrimental, as such scrolls are handwritten over the course of many years. Due to the damage, Winsor said that "it can't just be repaired," and "might have to be replaced" entirely.

Law was subsequently arrested and scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday. However, she did not appear and was later found to have returned to Congregation Emanu El to inflict further harassment.

Witnesses and officials reported that Law allegedly shouted at preschool students who were attending temple services. She left the scene before law enforcement could arrive, leading to a warrant for her arrest.

Law currently faces a charge of felony criminal mischief inside a place of worship. Her precise mental state will be further evaluated once she is booked into jail. Prosecutors are also now working to determine if her actions meet the standards of a hate crime.

The Texas penal code defines a hate crime as "a criminal act committed against a person or person's property that is motivated by bias against a person's or group's race, color, disability, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, gender, sexual preference, gender identity and expression, or status as a peace officer or judge."

British TikToker Arrested After Violent Wave of Antisemitic Hate Crimes

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in London has arrested a TikTok user named Bacari, who goes by the name of “Mizzy.” Mizzy films himself staging a series of menacing pranks against the Orthodox Jewish community.

According to Shomrim Stamford Hill, a Jewish community defense group, the 18-year-old male went on a “1 man hate spree,” blocking a car being driven by an Orthodox Jewish man, jumping on the back of a Jewish teenager, and faking a robbery on a Jewish man whom he accosted and told, “you’re under arrest, give me what you have.” He also filmed himself wearing a fedora while saying, “Guys, I’m a f***king Jew.”

The male was arrested on Wednesday and is in police custody.

In another incident that took place on a Transportation for London (TFL) bus, a “deranged male” verbally abused a Jewish mother and her three-year-old child, calling them “vermin” and “bad people.” The bus driver failed to act.

A group known as the “Web Estate Gang” has also been harassing a Jewish family for several months, the group has been reported in another update. The gang stole bicycles belonging to the Jewish families, pounded on their windows and doors, and trespassed on their property.

A total of 3,211 antisemitic hate crimes have been recorded in London since 2018, with incidents peaking in 2021, when there were 853. In December, there were 44 incidents, which rose slightly from the preceding month, when there were 43.

The new year has already witnessed a fresh wave of attacks on the Orthodox Jewish community in London, one of the largest in Europe. On Jan. 3, Shomrim, reported that a man entered a Jewish bakery and attempted to assault a Jewish woman after asking, “Are you Jewish?”

Such crimes represented a persistent threat to the quality of life throughout 2022, according to community groups.

In December, a man in the Stamford Hill stalked and assaulted an Orthodox Jewish woman. He followed her, shouting “Dirty Jew,” and then snatched her shopping bag, “spilling her shopping onto the pavement whilst laughing.”

NGO StopAntisemitism has been covering the fiasco on Twitter.

In August, a woman wielding a wooden stick approached a Jewish woman near the Seven Sisters area and declared “I am doing it because you are Jew,” while striking her over the head and pouring liquid on her. The next day, the same woman — described by an eyewitness as a “serial racist” — chased a mother and her baby with a wooden stick after spraying a liquid on the baby, and that same week, three people accosted a Jewish teenager and knocked his hat off his head while yelling “f****** Jew.”

Convictions of those who commit antisemitic hate crimes are scarce, with “too few cases” being brought before the courts, Dave Rich, Head of Policy at Community Security Trust (CST) wrote last February.

“The wheels of justice seem to be stuck,” he added.

White Nationalists Push Kanye's Antisemitic Agenda at Florida Atlantic University

A table was set up at the north end of the Breezeway outside the College of Business with a tablecloth that read, “Ye is Right. Change my mind” and contained tweets from antisemite Kanye West.

When the University Press staff arrived on the scene, there was a large crowd around the table. Some supporters of Israel were holding up pro-Israel signs.

While on the scene, the man behind the table was dressed to be unrecognizable- wearing a blue hat that read “America first,” sunglasses, with a total face covering. Another individual was recording on behalf of the unidentified man and, at one point, told him that the footage was no good and could not be posted on YouTube.

The NGO StopAntisemitism tweeted and identified the individuals as Dalton Clodfelter and Tyler Russell.

While this event was occurring, the crowd grew more significant, with students yelling at the group to leave campus. Student Body Vice-President Dalia Calvillo was present and spoke to Clodfelter. She expressed her concern for the student body being upset and said that he needed to leave campus immediately. After a short exchange, he left with his camera crew.

“To my knowledge, they didn’t have permission to be in the Breezeway because they didn’t need one,” Calvillo added. “They aren’t an organization on campus. I asked them for an email confirmation with evidence of approval to be there, and when they didn’t show me one, I was told they weren’t FAU associated. Unfortunately, they were permitted to be there due to the area being a free speech area.”

Calvillo details that the hate against the Jewish community has left her heartbroken. She wrote that a line was crossed between free speech and hate speech at FAU.

“When I arrived at the table in which these events were occurring, I went directly to the disturbance on the Breezeway, to these non-university affiliated people, and urged them to leave our Breezeway,” Calvillo wrote in a statement. “I made it very clear that they had two options: me kindly asking them to leave or me calling our FAU police department.”

Calvillo wrote that her executive position in SG left her with an obligation as vice president and a human to stand up for students.

Since the FAU community has received an email from Interim President Stacy Volnick, which details that all forms of hate are condemned on campus. “The University strongly and unequivocally condemns hate and Anti-Semitism. Florida Atlantic University believes in the freedoms provided by the First Amendment; however, we also denounce Antisemitism in all its forms,” the email from Volnick read.

Ariana Hoblin, founder and president of Students Supporting Israel at FAU, feels that the FAU Administration did not do anything to protect its Jewish student population, as it allowed the group of unidentified individuals to continue.

“As a Jewish student on campus, I no longer feel safe knowing that the FAU Administration failed to protect Jewish students. The FAU Administration must protect the students on campus,” Hoblin wrote in a statement.

Mia Evans, the former president of Hillel on campus, agreed with Hoblin and thinks that the FAU administration should have done more to protect the students. Evans wrote a statement detailing that these “boys” shouldn’t have been allowed to stay on the Breezeway for two hours.

“These boys were claiming ‘Ye is Right,’ denouncing the Holocaust, comparing abortion to slavery, and many other extremist ideologies. There is no room in this world for hate or bigotry. I understand FAU is a public campus, but when is enough, enough? We are your students who fund this campus. Why isn’t more being done to protect us,” Evans wrote in a statement.

“The incident today was not acceptable and goes against our University values of Diversity and Self Respect. I am proud that my fellow Student Leaders in Student Government took a stand with me against Antisemitism. Antisemitism and all other discrimination are not tolerated in our community,” Inbal Shachar, an SG House of Representatives official, wrote in a statement.

Two Virginia High Schools Defaced with Antisemitic Graffiti

For the second time in two days, members of a Virginian Police Department were called to investigate antisemitic and racist writing found in bathrooms at area high schools.

On Friday, Jan. 20th the department responded to Heritage High School, where there was antisemitic graffiti posted in one of the bathrooms less than 24 hours after a similar incident was reported at Loudoun County High School.

The hateful writings come less than two weeks after three instances of antisemitic writing on the walls of bathrooms inside Heritage High School that remains under investigation.

Police are now working with the Loudoun County Public School system to investigate the latest incident. The nature of the graffiti has not been disclosed by investigators.

According to police, school officials have since searched all bathrooms and locker rooms at both buildings and are in the process of removing the racist messages.

“There is no place in our society for this type of hateful behavior,” officials stated. “The Leesburg Police Department takes such reprehensible actions seriously.”

White Supremacist Group ‘GDL’ Plagues Michigan Town with Antisemitic Flyer Drop

The white supremacist group ‘Goyim Defense League’ targeted residents near Lansing this weekend with their ongoing antisemitic flyer drops.

The leaflets were found in plastic bags being weighed down by coffee beans so they wouldn’t blow away. At the bottom of the page, there was a QR code that sent people to the group’s website filled with antisemitic hate speech.

Dr. Matthew Kaufman is a rabbi with the Congregation Kehillat Israel in Lansing, and he was stressed to hear about the hate speech.

“We feel very secure in this town, but we remain vigilant,” said Kaufman. “Stressed to hear about the anti-Semitic propaganda being dispensed, and this is nothing new for us to hear, unfortunately. We feel very secure in this town, but we remain vigilant.”
